September Kinky Scribbles

I’ve decided to run an informal size kink writing challenge for myself and anyone in the community interested in participating! The goal is to write one or more stories of at least 500 words each within the month of September, using the Kinky Scribble flash fiction format:

  • write the story quickly
  • give it minimal edits
  • add content tags
  • share it with the world within 24 hours
  • (optional) email me the link to your story to include in my Oct 1 blog post*

Think of a Kinky Scribble as the writing equivalent of a quick pencil sketch. You could turn it into an oil painting with a lot of time and effort, or you can have fun sketching it, sharing it, and then move onto your next project.

Parameters


Personally, I’ve decided to aim for three Kinky Scribbles, because I’ll have to stretch outside my comfort zone to make it happen. You can focus on writing one, two, ten, or try for as many as you can make before September 30! There’s no story limit and no upper wordcount limit.

Share your story wherever you usually post your work, and if possible include the hashtag #SeptKinkyScribble. Common places size kink writers publish are their own websites, DeviantArt, Tumblr, Cohost, Giantess World, Giantess City, Coiled Fist, Daddy’s Dollhouse, Archive of Our Own (AO3), Literotica, FanFiction.net, Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing, Smashwords, in a long Twitter/Mastodon/BlueSky thread, or, as a last resort, a Google Doc with open viewing permissions and a link shared to social media. Remember that private forums like Giantess City and Daddy’s Dollhouse aren’t fully public. Be careful to check a platform’s terms of service about X-rated content and how they might legally or illegally take user’s work to train generative AI software.

At the end of the challenge, my plan is to make a blog post and a list of links to stories for people who participated. Email me the link to your story if you want to be included. Let’s see how much we can create in the next month!

*Important: this is not a contest and I have some hard limits due to past trauma, so I will not be reading all the stories. In my blog post celebrating our work at the end of the month, I will only include links to public stories, and stories that offer content tags. For accessibility and consent, if your stories include themes from the Top 15 Content Tags and you do not tag them, I will not share those until you add tags at the start of the story. I reserve the right to not feature a story for any reason.

 

What can I write about?

Stories can be SFW or NSFW. It can have lots of sex or no sex, comfy cuddles or dark themes, or something you find erotic or adorable or both or neither. You can write a simple vignette—a brief scene without a full plot—but if you have a plot arc in mind, then by all means go ahead!

I recommend finding an idea that excites you mentally, emotionally, or physically. It’s easier to launch into a scribble that makes you curious. What’s your personal favorite theme in size kink erotica? What’s a moment you love in a movie that you wish had size difference? What’s the fantasy you wish you saw more often? Can you feature that fantasy in two different ways in two different scribbles?

Sometimes I start with a small speck of a concept (a first kiss with a tiny, or how cold weather would affect size interactions) and it stays simple. Sometimes a more complex story reveals itself as I write (whoops, it’s an orgy now!) and I end up in a mad frenzy trying to keep the story to a reasonable length (if she’s so tiny, why is her story 4100 words).

It can feel thrilling to try and write something quickly, especially when you give yourself permission to let it be messy and imperfect. That’s one reason I often like to share the length of time I spent writing and editing, because nobody reasonable would expect a masterpiece when it’s written in fifteen minutes (or two hours). And if they do, then they are not my audience.

Why take this challenge?

My goal with this challenge is to help myself build confidence and earn a little dopamine to remind me how much fun writing can be.

I want to pick my momentum back up and start sharing things again. I feel like the happy brain chemicals of this can help fuel me in my longer projects where I want to give the work more polish, but often run out of steam.

All summer I’ve been thinking about this tweet from sex writer Kate Sloan, author of 101 Kinky Things Even You Can Do:

Most of my long work that I am deeply, enduringly proud of began as kinky scribbles. When the time comes to share, I sometimes realize that the potential I saw in the story feels too delicious to pass by for a little dopamine. Sometimes I feel frustrated with myself, but I try and let go of my narrative that “I’m failing at Kinky Scribbles” and focus on the fact I discovered a project that really speaks to me. I don’t regret transforming those into longer pieces and devoting more time to them. It’s okay to change your goals for a project once you can see the shape of it more clearly!

I’m also proud of the stories I kept as kinky scribbles, proud of creating them and releasing them, and especially proud of being playful and leaning into my love of writing.

In short, I’m trying to lean into the Andy Warhol philosophy:

“Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”

Kinky scribble time! This is the fastest I have drafted, edited, and released a story in years. I spent nearly as long on the graphics as I did on the story! It feels like a big relief, since I was beginning to wonder if I’d lost the ability to write anything under 3000 words. But today I was inspired by a sweet message from my partner pseudo_size and decided I would write the story and release it before I start to second-guess myself.

A kinky scribble is a flash fiction exercise I developed to help me level up as a writer, to create stories and let them go. So, one night over a year ago, I was a little drunk and dazzled by everything I was learning about how to transform my unruly, wavy hair into gorgeous curls. It was a revelation, and my femme side felt big and shiny, like a toy that wanted to be shown off, like something that needed to explode in a kinky sapphic celebration: a sparkly femme size orgy. So I wrote one.

It began as a kinky scribble but loved it so much I kept returning to it, adding here, growing it there. Shrinking some parts a little, as a treat.

I held off on publishing it because I wasn’t quite satisfied with it. And because I had a strong vision of making line art based on one of my favorite queer memes, which is featured in the story. I was determined to achieve my vision using my rusty Adobe Illustrator skills. I got pretty far with it but again, wasn’t satisfied, to the point where I don’t think I’ll share it here. I told myself I would just wait for an artist with a complimentary style to be available for commissions, hopefully while I have money to buy some art. (The stars still haven’t aligned on that, which is why I’m using the meme as a header.)

Recently, my wonderful partner in the kink community, pseudo_size (she/they/he) challenged me to stop overthinking things and just release one of the many stories collecting dust in my Google Drive. She did this with love and with patience, I might add, but also added a key ingredient: a deadline.

I have of course blown past this deadline by nearly two hours, but that’s okay. I have sexy-wrestled this piece into a place I think is very satisfying. She’ll understand if I’m a bit late, and I think She’ll still be proud of me for making this happen today. I’m so grateful for her support!

Today I was inspired to share a fantasy of mine in the form of a kinky scribble. Skip to the story content section if you want to jump right in.

A kinky scribble is a flash fiction exercise I developed to help me level up as a writer, to create stories and let them go. I envy artists who can scribble a sketch and share it unfinished into the wild for people to enjoy. This is my answer to that for writers. Feel free to join in yourself, and share with #KinkyScribble so others can find it.

Most of my original kinky scribbles are short, but in recent years I find them growing and growing (heh). This particular beast clocks in at 4159 words and took me about 2.75 hours to write with about a half hour of edits. Okay. Forty-five minutes. I’m stopping now, I promise.

In the end, I had to ask some fellow size writers to help talk me down as my brain tried to convince me that this story “deserved” a beta reader, more rounds of edits, more thought on the story arc and characterization, time spent balancing three-beats and avoiding word repetition, commissioning artwork, and gods know what else. If my brain had her way, I’d work on this for six months and still release it unsatisfied. Some projects need that kind of attention. This is not that project.

Thank you, Njord and pseudo_size, for helping me let go of my impossible desire for perfection, and just embrace the smut.

 

Inspiration

I’ve received feedback on this story that the connection between the characters is very sweet and caring. This due in large part because this fantasy was inspired by my wonderful partner and fellow sizeshifting erotica writer pseudo_size!

I asked his permission to talk about this here, and to make an important distinction. This character is not pseudo, this character is my invention in my personal fantasy that was inspired by my interactions with pseudo.

In the years since we met and began dating here in the size kink community, he’s been incredibly sweet and caring with me, and has shared so much of his knowledge about BDSM experiences in real life. We’ve explored some kinky things together, some rough, some gentle, but at the end of the day we know the other is a human with wants and needs and vulnerabilities just like anyone else. About This Story

This began as a Kinky Scribble, but I found myself so enamored with the characters and the way they were enamored with each other, that I allowed myself the luxury of months to write and explore. To go more in depth, you know. (Pun intended.)

I was so excited to write this story that I sought out Girl Sex 101 by Allison Moon and K.D. Diamond to better understand and write about the way women have sex. I may have been in more than one relationship with other women, but I also have an inkling of just how much I don’t know. I keep meaning to start blogging my book reviews, but if you’re interested, I kept up a twitter thread with my thoughts on the book and its value to anyone who wants to have sex with women. I found the “Embodied Yes” and “Difficult Conversation Formula” sections especially useful for this story. The pages on techniques for hand sex and oral sex with different kinds of bodies are definitely dog-eared and already well-loved in my house. It’s such a wonderful resource!

Here are some examples with diagrams for any fellow sex geeks out there. I think it’s an especially great resource for my fellow creatives out there, writers and artists alike. Can you tell I love this book?

About This Story

This began as a Kinky Scribble, but I found myself so enamored with the characters and the way they were enamored with each other, that I allowed myself the luxury of months to write and explore. To go more in depth, you know. (Pun intended.)

I was so excited to write this story that I sought out Girl Sex 101 by Allison Moon and K.D. Diamond to better understand and write about the way women have sex. I may have been in more than one relationship with other women, but I also have an inkling of just how much I don’t know. I keep meaning to start blogging my book reviews, but if you’re interested, I kept up a twitter thread with my thoughts on the book and its value to anyone who wants to have sex with women. I found the “Embodied Yes” and “Difficult Conversation Formula” sections especially useful. (Can you spot the influence on Chapter 3?) The pages on techniques for hand sex and oral sex with different kinds of bodies are definitely dog-eared and already well-loved in my house. It’s such a wonderful resource!

I also commissioned a sensitivity read with Ana Valens, a reporter and member of the size kink community. She gave me feedback and additional insight on my pairing between a cisgender woman and a transgender woman. I’m pleased to report that she said it was “incredibly hot and well written,” and that she “utterly adored it.” I’m grateful for her suggested changes and nuance on experiences that hopefully made this story stronger and more true to life for trans women.

Achievements in context

This has been a difficult year for so many. As I see the 2022 retrospectives roll past on the timeline, I feel a mix of pride in myself and my own accomplishments, and a wish that I could put some of it in context for anyone else out there who also feels inadequate. If you feel like you haven’t done enough, or if you’re afraid to take a break because you won’t be productive, this is for you.

This year I wrote more fiction than I ever have in my life, more than 120,000 words. That’s clocking in at 2.4 NaNoWriMos! I published 80,000 words to this blog. I recorded and edited six author-read audio tracks. I also wrote a significant amount of nonfiction, including three free community resources, one of which I presented at SizeCon.

I’m very proud of this achievement. And a lot of it has only been possible because my life happened to fall apart in a very specific way. There’s some socioeconomic privilege at work here, and other factors I won’t share for privacy reasons.

My life was in upheaval this year. I experienced two traumatic losses, one of which was to due to COVID in spite of vaccines and boosters. When the living situation at our last place became untenable, my polycule moved again for the second year in a row. I burned out completely on my entire nonprofit career, had two full breakdowns, and took five hiatuses from Twitter/writing that amounted to at least six months of “unproductive” rest and healing.
